How to stay cool in summer heat without air conditioning? You can see below how to reduce the heat depending on environment around you. If you follow these simple tips you will not need an air conditioning.

How to fight the heat in the summer without air conditioning

Summer without air conditioning can be a real challenge. It is not pleasant at all an intense heat as this one in recent weeks.  Despite the convenience, an air conditioner is expensive pleasure. It is possible to stay cool during summer months even without it.  We can overcome the heat and we can save a lot of money for pleasant experiences (sea and mountains for example), by making some small changes.

1. Let’s cool for sleeping

If summer heat does not give you peace and you can not fall asleep, try these ideas:

  • Buy a fan! If it is switched on lower power consumption, to create gentle air movement in the room as pleasant sea breeze, this could work miracles. If you do not like to blow directly on you, can put it in the farthest corner of your room. You can also mount the fan in window where through to enter fresh air outside.
  • Buy a water bed! It’s like an air mattress, but full of water without pressure. This bed keeps the body in buoyancy, more quickly takes the heat from your body and slowly warm itself by the environment. Sleeping on a water bed provides coolness for most of the time of year. A little uncomfortable sleep can bother you, but you’ll stay cool! However, try the bed before you buy it!
  • Before bedtime put a small pillow in your freezer for an hour or two. Put the pillow into nylon envelope or bag or tote bag to prevent sticking the skin of your face on the pillow.
  • Keep your bed covers in the coolest part of the house / room during the day. After getting up in the morning, bring your blankets and sheets in the coolest room in your home. If you have basement, bring them directly in it. Keep your bed covers there until the moment you go to bed.
  • If it is possible, use silk or satin pillowcases, sheets and blankets. Bedroom sets made of 100% cotton also do a good job. These fabrics feel smoother and cooler. Forget pajamas!
  • Sleep naked. Every outfit reduces the possibility of good and rapid cooling and retains the warmth around you.

2. The truth is in water

Bet on the water. The effect is almost immediate and it continues at least an hour, hour and a half.

  • Drink water more often than usual. The better hydrated you are, the cooler you will feel. Try to drink at least 300 ml / hour. If clean water is not your favorite drink, add something to refresh it and make the water more delicious, for example, lemon, mint, orange, sliced cucumber.
  • Obtain yourself with a bottle or tube of spray (spraying) and fill it with water. Go back to your childhood and sprinkle with colleagues and friends. If they are not around you, can do that alone. The fine sprayed mist on your skin will give you an instant feeling of coolness.
  • Keep your neck in shade place (wear a hat or visor turned upside down). Put a wet towel on your neck, even on your entire back. The sensor of warmth of human body is located in the neck area. Using this tip you can fool our entire body that we feel pleasantly cool.
  • Put an ice pack on your neck. Be careful and do not overdo because, you do not want to get sick in the middle of summer.
  • Wet your hair. Evaporating water will cool your head, which will give a sense of coolness to your body.
  • Put a wet towel on your head. In this way you could stay cool. You could change your styling and you could look like an old rocker. You could return to the 80s putting a wet terry strip on your forehead.
  • Obtain yourself with a fan that spray mist. This is a mobile device, which have batteries. You can carry it with you, wherever you are because this device is so compact.
  • Wet your T-shirt with water (cool, not ice because you don’t want to stress your body), wring it out and put it on. While the T-shirt is wet, you will feel pleasantly cool. If you sit with your wet T-shirt, be careful to have the least contact with a chair. This tip allows the air to circulate better around you and to keep you cool. When the T-shirt dries, simply wet it again.
  • Wear shirts with short sleeves. Wet only the sleeves and that will help you to stay cool. If sleeves dry, wet them again. If you wear long pants, you can wet it below (around your feet). Rising water vapor will move around you and so you can cool your body, not just your legs. Effect is the same, if you wear a long skirt. Wet it at the same place and you will stay cool.
  • Hold your wrists and flats of your hands under running cold water or in a bowl with cold water for about 10 seconds. This will reduce your temperature for about an hour.
  • Dip your feet in a bowl of cool water. Human body emanates heat mainly from hands, feet, face, ears. By cooling these areas you cool yourself.
  • If you have a bath, fill it with 10 sm of cool water and dunk yourself in it. Water takes heat much faster than air. So, you can cool yourself quickly and the feeling of chill will persist for long.
  • Go swimming. Go to a pool, lake, river, sea. In this way, you will not only cool yourself but there are major prerequisites to spend a great day.

3. Dress appropriately

There are a lot of options how to dress or undress depending on the need.

  • Wear nothing. If you just stay at home, as your mother gave birth to you, this is the most natural and convenient way to cool yourself quickly and easily.
  • If it is possible, wear almost nothing but swimsuits or underwear. If it is impossible, is for  the most adventurous.
  • Wear clothes made of natural fabrics. Wide, free, non woven natural (cotton, silk, linen), but not polyester or others synthetic fibers. Better to stay cool than modern.
  • Let your clothes be in bright colors. The more light a color is, the less heat absorb. The more transparent the better. This is a great premise for a summer flirtation.
  • If you are in a desert area or a zone of dry climate, better cover yourself with a large piece of natural light fabric. The more widely the better. Imagine Bedouins in the desert. They are not stupid.

4. Change your diet

Things we eat and drink can help us to cool better.

  • Fill your freezer with ice cream. Freeze a bag of sliced fruits such as watermelon, pineapple or lemon. If all fruits are just chillers not frozen is even better. You do not want to cause a thermal shock of your body.
  • Use mint and mint products. Mint refreshes your skin and gives a pleasant feeling of coolness. Use creams, gels and lotions that containing mint. Embrocate ( or someone else can do that) your body with mint lotion, but avoid to put it on your face and eyes. Take a shower with mint soap. Dip your feet in water with mint.
  • Increase the use of cucumbers. Cut a chilled cucumber, put a piece of it in the middle of your forehead and immediately you will feel coolness. A ice cub or a cold drink on the forehead also works but the astringency of the cucumber is much more refreshing.
  • Eat spicy foods. This is not a joke, many people in warmer ( hoter) areas on Earth eat more spicy food. The spicy food increases perspiration, which cools the body during evaporation of the sweat. Pungent increases the production of endorphins (happiness hormone), so this will raise your mood and will reduce the sensation of heat.Fill your freezer with ice cream.

Warm air rises up because it is lighter than cool air.

  • The difference in air temperature between floor and ceiling in a closed domestic space, may reach 5-6 degrees. So, lying on the floor can significantly reduce your sensation of warmth.
  • If your floor is made of tile, marble or granite, the effect will be overwhelming.
  • If you have a house with a ground floor, you have to settled there. Surface soil layer has almost constant temperature of about 12-15 ° C which is similar to the temperature of your ground floor.
  • Go to your basement. There is always cool in summer. Ideal time to repair or organize your things inside. This helps you to combine useful with pleasure.

6. Make your cooling system

Take a large glass of water or beer mug and fill it to the brim with ice cubes. Keep it close to your face and often blow lightly in it.  The ice will cool the blowing air and it will fall around you. This will cool you.

  • Optimize the system. Put two vast drinking straws in the glass and blow through them. So, the air coming from the glass will be even colder and you will reduce the heat faster.
  • Automate the system. If your cheeks hurt by the blowing and you have better things to do, fill 4-5 cups with ice cubes and arrange them next to each other. Take an ordinary fan, put it in front of the glasses, switch it on and point it to blow to you.

7. Think cool

Read books, watch movies or think about Mount Everest, Antarctica, tall and cool mountains, icebergs, refrigerators or whatever you like. It is not a physically cooler, but our brain is the most powerful machine. So, the right thinking will bring your body to a physical feeling of coolness.

8. Be smart

Stay and rest in a cool place during the greatest heat.

  • If your work is out, it is not a good idea the activity in the heat. Save yourself the walking in the heat. Weeding the garden or cleaning with vacuum cleaner can wait the cooler hours of the day.
  • If you still have to go out,  move yourself under shady places. Get out of sun. Natural shade tree is much better than man-made structures and buildings. Look for natural shades.
  • Avoid all peak hours of sunshine. Do everything possible to be hidden from the sun a 10:30a.m to 16:30p.m. This helps you avoid sunburns and heat strokes. You may have not the best tan, but you will be alive and in good condition.

9. Move your office in the mountains, in a park or on a beach.

  • Communication tools in nowadays permit opportunity for you to be constantly with your office. Take your laptop, tablet, phone and go to work in the park near your office. There are solar chargers which are small and slight enough so, do not have to worry about your battery.
  • It is proven to be more effective to work in natural conditions. A man feels much better outdoor in nature than closed between four walls. This will unlock your imagination and you could think of ingenious idea, instead of puffing against summer heat. The last one only takes your concentration.
  • Team building activities on a beach. Pull together your team and have a lot of fun on the beach – volleyball, soccer, water polo, burial in the sand and so on. Whatever you wish. “With speachy comradeship mountain elevates.!”
  • Make business discuss in the mountains. Instead of boiling inside the conference hall, go to the mountains. Make your lunch, lie on the grass and discuss all issues! You will be the best in business!
